What will be your Legacy?

According to the strength of resolve, resolutions come,
And noble deeds are achieved by the noble.
What seems great, in the eyes of the small,
Appears small, in the eyes of the great.

In a world where fleeting moments of success are often lauded as monumental victories, we as Muslims find ourselves pausing to reflect: are these truly the milestones that define us? Whether it’s someone becoming Hafiz, a sacred and noble act, or the brief sight of a celebrity making sajood after his goal or fight. We may cheer and offer praise. Yet, this poem—imbued with timeless wisdom—calls us to something deeper, something greater.

The poem challenges us to reimagine what true greatness looks like. It speaks to the heart, reminding us that the magnitude of our achievements is tied to the depth of our resolve and the purity of our intentions. Noble deeds are not measured by the applause of the crowd but by the aspirations of the soul. What may seem grand to those with limited vision will always appear insignificant to those who dream with a higher purpose.

In the context of Islamic history, these words resonate powerfully with the life of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). His vision was nothing short of transforming the world, and his gaze was always fixed on the loftiest of goals. Who else could have imagined that the bangles of Persia, symbols of wealth and power, would one day adorn the hands of the Muslim ummah? What seemed impossible to many was simply a reflection of the Prophet’s unwavering resolve and his boundless vision.

But today, as we navigate the modern world, we must ask ourselves: have we lost sight of this vision? It is easy to celebrate small victories—an individual memorising the Qur’an, a public figure making Sajood —but these moments, as beautiful as they are, must not be mistaken for the pinnacle of success. They are milestones, yes, but they are not the final destination.

This poem is a call to our hearts, a plea for us to think bigger, to aspire higher. True greatness demands souls of extraordinary resolve. It calls for us to look beyond the small wins and set our sights on monumental change. Just as the Prophet did not settle for minor triumphs but aimed for nothing less than the transformation of societies, we too must aim higher. Our mission is far greater than we often allow ourselves to believe.

Our ambitions, particularly for the youth, must be recalibrated. We must encourage them to see themselves as ambassadors for Islam, not mere brand advocates for designer labels or status symbols. Their dreams must stretch beyond a better career or a bigger house. For the Muslim, success cannot be measured by silencing a Piers Morgan in a debate or winning momentary approval. No—their aim must be far grander. They must strive to become beacons of light in a world often shrouded in darkness, guiding humanity with the eternal values of justice, compassion, and truth that Islam represents.

In practical terms, this calls for cultivating a mindset of excellence and high ambition within the Muslim community. This journey requires leaders with a burning passion for real, lasting change—leaders unsatisfied with mere symbolic gestures and hollow victories. It calls for a community willing to dream boldly, to push boundaries, and to overcome the challenges that face the ummah with a resolve as unshakeable as that of our Prophet. It demands people who see this world as a means to an end, not the end itself—people who yearn for status in the eyes of Allah, not in the eyes of society. It requires souls who hold themselves accountable for their lack of action, who strive daily for something greater, and whose hearts burn with the desire to one day drink from the blessed Kawther with the Prophet (peace be upon him).

This broader vision requires leaders who are not content with mere symbolic victories but are committed to addressing the fundamental challenges facing the ummah. It involves fostering excellence and encouraging the youth to pursue knowledge and skills that lead to groundbreaking change, that will support the global call for Khilafah

While there is beauty in celebrating small achievements, we must never lose sight of the larger vision. This poem serves as a timeless reminder that true greatness lies not in the applause we receive but in the strength of our resolve and the nobility of our aspirations. As Muslims, we are called to rise above mediocrity, to push beyond comfort, and to strive for monumental achievements that will leave a lasting legacy in this world—just as the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did in his time.
