The U.S. and Gaza: A Colonial Takeover in Plain Sight

The recent declaration by Donald Trump that the U.S. will “own” Gaza is a blatant display of colonial arrogance. It exposes the reality that the rulers of Muslim lands are mere agents who exist only to serve the interests of their Western masters. When colonisers no longer require puppet rulers to execute their policies and instead openly claim ownership of land, it reveals the utter worthlessness of these rulers in the eyes of their masters. For decades, they have enforced Western policies, normalised ties with Israel, and promoted the illusion of peace through the so-called two-state solution. Yet now, they witness the colonial powers discarding them like pawns while they stand powerless, unable to resist.

The argument that the U.S. respects the sovereignty of nations has long been a lie, but only the foolish and naïve continue to believe in the security of nation-states. Sovereignty is a myth when it is dictated by colonial powers. The rulers of the Arab and Muslim worlds serve as caretakers, managing their lands on behalf of their Western sponsors. When the U.S. and its allies want to impose their will, they do so without resistance, whether through military invasions, economic control, or outright declarations like this. The people of Gaza have already suffered occupation, siege, and genocide—now they are being told that their land will be taken by the very powers that funded and enabled their slaughter.

Who Created the “Mess” in Gaza?

Trump justified his proposal by saying that Gaza is a “dangerous situation” filled with explosives, tunnels, and destruction. But who created this “mess”? Who armed Israel with billions in military aid? Who provided the bombs that levelled entire neighbourhoods? Who ensured that Israel could carry out its genocide without consequence? The U.S. and its allies funded, supplied, and politically covered Israel’s war crimes, only to now turn around and claim that Gaza is too damaged for Palestinians to live in. This is the classic colonial tactic—create devastation, then present yourself as the “solution” while erasing the indigenous population in the process.

For decades, Western powers have dictated the fate of Palestine not to bring peace but to strengthen Israel and suppress resistance. They fund destruction, then pretend to be “rebuilders.” They impose settlements and then claim to seek justice. And now, they wish to take direct ownership of Gaza, erasing any possibility of Palestinian sovereignty. This is nothing less than a colonial land grab, and it must be rejected by all who stand for justice.

The Betrayal of Muslim Rulers and the Abraham Accords

What is the response of the Muslim rulers? Instead of rejecting this outright, they continue to push for the two-state solution and a return to the Abraham Accords. But who created the Abraham Accords? It was not the Muslim world, nor was it designed for the benefit of Palestine. The Accords were crafted by the very same Western powers that are now claiming ownership of Gaza. The same forces that funded Israel’s genocide are the ones dictating this so-called “peace.” These rulers cling to a failed project, believing that normalising relations with Israel would secure their power. But history shows that their Western masters will discard them when they are no longer useful.

Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Jordan—these nations pretend to stand for Palestine while actively working against it. They refuse to send troops to defend Gaza, yet they will send forces to protect their monarchies. They talk of “diplomatic solutions” while secretly working with Israel to suppress resistance. Their betrayal is clear, and their silence in the face of U.S. colonialism proves that they are nothing more than caretakers of Western interests.

What can I do?

The Common Man: Your Voice is Your Weapon

Do not underestimate the power of your voice. When Musa (AS) stood before Fir’aun, he did not have an army or wealth—he only spoke the truth, and it was enough to shake an empire. Fir’aun had all the power, yet Musa’s (AS) words exposed his tyranny. Today, the U.S. and its allies behave no differently, claiming ownership over lands they have no right to. If we remain silent, we allow their oppression to go unchallenged. Speak to your family, friends, and colleagues. Educate them on the reality of Gaza and expose the hypocrisy of those who claim to support human rights while enabling genocide. Challenge those who say nothing—remind them that silence is complicity. When we speak out, we weaken the oppressor’s narrative and strengthen the cause of justice.

Musa (AS) stood before the greatest tyrant of his time and spoke—and Allah made his words more powerful than Fir’aun’s armies. Likewise, we must speak and make our stance clear. Every voice raised against injustice matters, and history has shown that empires fall when the people refuse to be silent. Gaza is not for sale, and Palestine is not a bargaining chip for colonial powers. Let the world know: the people will never accept this crime, and those who stand with oppression will be held accountable, if not in this world, then in the next.

Business Owners: Stand Against This Narrative

Those of you who are business owners—do not remain neutral. Support campaigns that challenge this colonial project. Align your businesses with efforts that expose the truth and reject the notion that Gaza can be owned by the U.S. Do not allow your wealth to indirectly support those who advocate for the erasure of Palestine. Use your wealth for campaigns that call for a sovereign state based on Islamic principles and not the principles of the west or the Muslim rulers. Place posters and stickers in your shops and outlets exposing this present narrative.

Imams and Scholars: Your Friday Khutbah Must Address This!

Imams, you have a duty to speak. You have the ears of the Ummah every Friday, and this issue must be addressed in your khutbahs. This is not a political matter alone—it is a matter of justice, oppression, and the sanctity of Muslim lands. The people of Gaza are being expelled, their land claimed by foreign powers, and their dignity erased. If the pulpits of the Ummah remain silent, then what purpose do they serve? Remind the people that standing for justice is an obligation, and rejecting oppression is part of our deen.

Social Media Influencers: Expose the Lies

If you have a platform, use it. The idea that the U.S. can own Gaza is another step in removing Palestinians from their land and legitimising Israel’s dominance. Expose the hypocrisy of the Arab rulers, the failure of the two-state solution, and the Western colonial project in the region. Show the world that this is not about “development”—it is about erasure. Use your voice to counter this dangerous narrative and awaken the masses.

Armies of the Muslim World: Where is Your Honour?

The armies of the Muslim world—where do you stand? Will you witness the ownership of Gaza by a foreign power and do nothing? Do you fear Trump and your puppet rulers more than Allah? You have seen the genocide, the treachery of your governments, and now this blatant colonialism. You cannot remain inactive. This will count against you in the next life. You have the strength to remove these puppet regimes and establish a sovereign state that reflects your Iman, values, and laws of Islam. History will judge you—either as those who stood by while Gaza was taken or those who rose to defend it.

Journalists: Expose the Treachery

Journalists, you cannot sit on the fence. The world is being deceived, and you have the power to expose the truth. Call out the hypocrisy of the West and its agent rulers. Show the world that this is not about rebuilding Gaza—it is about removing Palestinians entirely. Sultan Abdul Hamid II, despite being in a weak position, made it clear that Palestine was not for sale. Where are the leaders today who will say the same?

The Duty of the Ummah

This is a defining moment. The U.S. has declared its colonial ambitions openly, and the rulers of the Muslim world remain silent. But the people do not have to accept this. Raise your voice, reject this narrative, and make it clear that Gaza belongs to the people of Palestine. The Ummah is not powerless—history has shown that when the people rise, empires fall. Stand for justice, for Palestine, and the dignity of the oppressed. Gaza is not for sale.

We have witnessed every single solution, and it has failed the Ummah. We need to make the return of the Caliphate our project. It is time to stop making excuses for the munafiq rulers, and we must not be defeated in our minds about the strength of the U.S. or any of its allies. We must not turn our backs on Allah’s promise. We must openly and boldly call for the return of our shield—the Caliphate—which will ensure no Muslim land is up for grabs. Only through the unity of the Ummah and the establishment of the Caliphate can we guarantee that Gaza and all Muslim lands remain free from colonial control.
