Bridging Faiths for Peace in Palestine

We hope this letter finds you well and in good health. We, a group of concerned Muslim youth, are writing to you as supporters of justice and peace. Recently, we had the opportunity to listen to Reverend Munther Isaac’s powerful sermon live from Bethlehem. His words resonated deeply with us and have compelled us to come together and reach out to you.

Reverend Isaac highlighted the dire situation in Gaza and called for Christians around the world, including Archbishops, priests, and pastors like yourself, to take a stand against the ongoing occupation. He emphasized that the issue in Gaza did not start on the 7th of October, but it has been an ongoing struggle for the Palestinian people. This parallel to your celebration of Christmas, the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem, makes it even more relevant for individuals like yourself as Christians in the UK.

Reverend Isaac passionately urged you to go beyond calling for a ceasefire as he spoke about this as a bare minimum but instead advocated for the end of the occupation. He asked if you were appalled by the atrocities committed and if you were truly shaken to your core by the suffering of our fellow human beings.

Moreover, Reverend Isaac expressed concern about the silence of many churches and the failure to label the situation as genocide. He stated that it is a sin and compromises the credibility of our Christian witness if you do not denounce the weaponization of the Bible to justify such acts of violence.

Considering these words, we, as a group of young individuals, implore you, as a leader of the Christian community, to raise your voice and stand united in calling for an end to the occupation in Palestine. It is not enough to settle for a temporary ceasefire; we must strive for long-lasting peace and justice.

As we approach this holiday season, remember the significance of Bethlehem in the nativity story and the symbolism it holds for your faith. This is an opportunity for you to reflect upon the values of peace, compassion, and solidarity that your religion speaks about.

We urge you to engage with your congregation, mobilize discussions, and encourage active support for initiatives and organizations that work towards the liberation of Palestine. By doing so, you can inspire and empower the youth within your community to make a positive impact and contribute to a better future for all.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. We, as young voices in the Muslim community, appreciate your time in reading this letter and the dedication to your congregation. Together, we firmly believe that we can make a difference and embrace the responsibility of calling out the truth for Palestine. We, the Muslim youth, would love to meet you in person over dinner at our house and perhaps carve out a roadmap of things that can be done in the UK for the liberation of Palestine.

May God bless Palestine and its people and prepare for them liberation from the evils leashed upon them.
